Alaine Duncan is helping veterans and their caregivers battle an enemy they weren’t prepared for.

In 2005 Alaine Duncan heard a story that changed her life. As she listened to the family of a young war veteran who lost his struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Alaine remembered something important she learned as a student in Tai Sophia’s Master of Acupuncture program: “Be a catalyst for change in the world.”

Alaine was inspired to use her acupuncture skills to bring peace and comfort to soldiers, their families, and caregivers battling the anguishing mental, physical, and emotional after effects of military conflict. In the past three years, her team has treated over 1,200 staff at Walter Reed Army Hospital and many more at the weekly clinic she holds at the DC Veterans Administration.

In these uncertain times, there is a special place in the world for healers like you. Learn more at an open house, a class observation, or by meeting with admissions. To schedule your visit, call 410-988-9048, ext. 6647.

Get the tools to make a positive impact on the lives of others and to be more fulfilled in your own.

Walter traded his job as a stockbroker for a career with more pressure.

Walter had a pretty comfortable job, yet he wasn’t fulfilled. In 1994, he decided to make a big change. Having always had a strong desire to learn acupuncture, Walter took a leap and enrolled in Tai Sophia’s Master of Acupuncture program.

Today he’s a licensed acupuncturist whose greatest rewards now come from his ability to educate and empower his patients, ease their pain, and ultimately change their lives.

Since 1981, Tai Sophia’s Acupuncture graduate program has helped over 800 graduates make their passion for healing their career. Many, like Walter, own a practice. Some are educators and most work with traditional doctors and mental health professionals in hospitals, universities, integrated health clinics and veterinary practices.

In this flexible, full-time program, we combine intensive classroom teaching and over 700 hours of hands-on clinical practice to give you the skills and compassion to treat patients and become a greater healing presence.

To learn more about Tai Sophia’s acupuncture program, we encourage you to read through this website and then attend an upcoming Open House.

You’ll hear from faculty, students and graduates, and have the opportunity to have your questions answered. For more information and to reserve a spot call 410-988-9048, ext. 6647.

Don’t worry about taking a leap just yet. Sometimes the first step is the most important.
