The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences is seeking an exceptional and motivated individual to become the MSTCM program Dean of Academic Affairs.
Position: Dean of Academic Affairs (MSTCM)
Ideal candidate requirements: The academic dean must possess management experience and qualifications insofar as educational administration; must be educated at the Master’s level in traditional Chinese Medicine (possesses L.Ac.); must be familiar with the regulations related to national accreditation, ACAOM criteria, California post-secondary requirements, and the California Acupuncture Board; must have experience with the theory and practice of TCM and Western medical sciences; and must be able to work in a diverse community of TCM faculty and staff. Fluency in English and Chinese is preferred but not required.
Job Description and Duties:
The academic dean is responsible for the supervision of faculty, the development of educational programs and curriculum, and the implementation of the institution’s mission, purpose, and educational objectives. The academic dean mediates issues relative to student-faculty or student-administration concerns, and is responsible for reviewing academic disciplinary matters. Other duties include:
- Arranging and conducting peer evaluations
- Implementation of working transfer policies, transfer credits, and academic advancement
- Presiding over the Academic Standards Committee and faculty meetings
- Developing course/clinic schedules
- Reviewing admissions applications, with assistance from admissions administrators
- Comprehensive and Final examination development and analysis
- Developing seminar, workshop, and continuing education courses
- Supervising library acquisitions (texts, references, and periodicals)
- Reviewing trimesterly transcripts and ascertaining student eligibility for CALE and National examinations
- Reviewing faculty development
- Supervising and promoting clinical policies, criteria, requirements and ensuring successful relationships between students and clinical supervisors
In addition, the Dean of Academic Affairs should be available at least five days per week, 160 hours/month. The academic dean reports to the Vice-president of the institution and must assist the student population in academic advising and program matriculation.
Salary: To commensurate with experience
