Lecture at MUIH
Wednesday, June 19, 2013 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The latest scientific research is merging with traditional wisdom. Probiotics are healthy bacteria found in cultured and fermented foods, and supplements that have specific benefits to our health. They help regulate our metabolism, determining whether we’ll be fat or thin. They also balance our immune function, manufacture vitamins, make our food more digestible, and regulate digestive function. Come and learn about how to enhance your own digestion through probiotic and prebiotic rich foods. Understand how to choose probiotic supplements and dosage. Hear about some of the fascinating research on the human microbiome. Recognize the wisdom of the ages from when we didn’t have refrigeration. Learn how to simply incorporate cultured and fermented foods into your own life. Dr. Lipski is the Academic Director of Nutrition & Integrative Health Programs at Maryland University of Integrative Health. She is also on faculty at the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Autism Research Institute. She is the author of Digestion Connection, Digestive Wellness, Digestive Wellness for Children, and Leaky Gut syndrome.
